Our Team

Shana Baptiste-Iseyemi is the Founder, French as a Second Language Consultant, and Career Development Consultant at Faire sens Consulting Services.

Her French as a Second Language Background:

She has a Honours Bachelor of Arts in French Studies with a minor in Anthropology from York University. She also has a Bachelor of Education with a focus on French as a Second Language and General Social Sciences from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) of the University of Toronto.

Additionally, she has worked for both the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and the York Region District School Board (YRDSB) where she has taught the following classes:

  • Grade 7 Core French,

  • Grade 8 Core French,

  • Grade 9 Academic Core French,

  • Grade 9 Applied French, and

  • Grade 9 Open French.

She has also supported the following classes:

  • Grade 2 French Immersion,

  • Grade 4/5 French Immersion,

  • Grade 6 Core French,

  • Grade 8 French Immersion Math,

  • Grade 8 French Immersion History,

  • Grade 9 Pre-International Baccalaureate French,

  • Grade 10 Core French,

  • Grade 11 Core French,

  • Grade 11 International Baccalaureate French, and

  • Grade 12 Core French.

For a few years, she also volunteered as a Concours d'art oratoire judge for the annual national French public-speaking competition for secondary students. In fact, this experience was only made possible due to her time spent living, studying, and working abroad in Grenoble, France.

Finally, when Shana is not educating and empowering parents, guardians, and caregivers about their child's French language learning journey, she works as a Bilingual Career Coordinator. As a result, she has seen what various levels of French language fluency looks like at the elementary, secondary, and postsecondary levels.

So, with that in mind, let her help you make an informed decision when it comes to your child's French as a Second Language (FSL) education.

Her Career Development Background:

Shana has additional qualifications in Guidance and Career Education and Co-operative Education from OISE. She is also a Certified Career Strategist (CCS) and a Certified Résumé Strategist (CRS) which allows her to provide expert advice in the areas of career planning, career development, and career management.

Additionally, when she worked for YRDSB, she thoroughly enjoyed teaching the Grade 10 Careers course for four years. In fact, this is where she discovered her passion for career development and career education, which is why she eventually left teaching to pursue her current daytime role as a Bilingual Career Coordinator.

In this role she is able to work with bilingual and unilingual postsecondary students from all over the world, which is why she was invited to participate in the 2024 Virtual Career Fair organized by the Canadian Parents for French (CPF) - Ontario Chapter. During this event, she delivered her presentation called Vingt années en vingt minutes, also known as Twenty Years in Twenty Minutes, where she described her journey to becoming bilingual, a teacher, a career advisor, and eventually an entrepreneur.

Next, due to her research that focused on providing better supports for francophone and bilingual job seekers in Ontario, she was afforded the opportunity to present her work and recommendations at Cannexus 2025. This event is Canada’s largest annual bilingual conference focused on career and workforce development.

Finally, after presenting her research in Ottawa, Shana was asked if she could write for OrientAction, which is a francophone blog aimed at helping Canadian career development professionals stay abreast of the latest news and trends in the industry. To date they have published two of her three thought-provoking articles that highlight her research and suggestions when it comes to supporting secondary and postsecondary students. One in particular is called Les étudiants et étudiantes doivent explorer toutes leurs options, also known as Students Must Explore All Their Options

So, on that note, let her show your bilingual high school or postsecondary graduate how to use their bilingualism to their advantage.
